Part III: Using the
Spider Safety Line
1. Follow instructions for putting on and adjusting your safety harness according to all of
your safety harness’ written and video instructions.
2. Any time you are above ground level, you must stay connected to the tree from the mo-
ment you leave the ground to the moment you return to the ground.
For hang-on or fixed position stands, this means that before the Spider Safety
Line is installed, the use of a lineman’s style climbing belt and tree strap (such
as the Tree Spider
®
Vertical Climbing Belt and Tree Strap) must be used to
stay attached to the tree at all times.
For a ladder stand, this means that before the Spider Safety Line is installed,
ALWAYS maintain three points of contact (one hand and two feet, or two
hands and one foot) after leaving the ground.
For climbing stands, this means that before the safety line is installed, the use
of a tree strap must be used to stay attached to the tree at all times after leav-
ing the ground.
3. Once you reach your stand, position your tree strap properly and maintain connection
with your tree strap. For ladder stands, this is when the tree strap with your harness
tether connected should be attached to the tree for a secure connection with the tree.
